Echoes of War: The Conflict of Madox and Ragnar

Echoes of War: The Conflict of Madox and Ragnar

With all the new toys that Chaos Space Marines are getting, especially with the focus on the Thousand Sons over the next couple of months, Difsta and the Sicilian have put together a campaign of two of their favourite armies; Thousand Sons and Space Wolves. If you are unsure of what new toys the Thousand Sons are getting, head on over to Difsta's Review: Wrath of Magnus

The Conflict of Madox and Ragnar campaign is a series of Echoes of War missions inspired by a number of battles fought between Madox of the Thousand Son and Ragnar Blackmane of the Space Wolves timed between the Burning of Propsero and the Wrath of Magnus.

Madox is a powerful Chaos Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons Legion, who has led several plots to destroy the Space Wolves Chapter in revenge for their part in the destruction of Prospero, each attempt has been foiled by Ragnar Blackmane of the Space Wolves. In these re-enactments, will Ragnar be successful in stopping Madox’s devilish schemes, or will Madox re-write history and finally have his revenge?

Each mission within the campaign will clearly list out its objectives and any special rules that it may have. This campaign sheet is to explain how the Echoes of War missions are tied together, and how the various characters within our story will gain rules as they progress along the timeline.

Each game played within this campaign must contain one player designated as the Chaos Space Marine (CSM) Player, and one designated as the Space Wolf (SW) Player.

Chaos Space Marines Player:
The CSM Player must have at least one Chaos Sorcerer or Exalted Sorcerer with Mastery Level 2+ in their army list to represent Madox.

As this campaign progresses keep note of the Psychic Powers that Madox has rolled. For the first mission Madox will generate his Psychic Powers as per the Rule Book. From the second mission onwards Madox will already know the powers from previous missions, and he will generate 1 additional Psychic Power (but not an additional Mastery Level). Keep in mind that if he decides to roll on a new chart not rolled on previously he will lose any Psychic Focus he may have had in the previous missions.

In addition, every character keeps their Boon Results from the previous missions (with the exception of Spawnhood and Dark Apotheosis results), as well as from mission 2 onwards every character that survived the previous mission will get a free roll on the Boon Chart using the same rules as a Gift of Mutation.

Space Wolves Player:
The SW Player must have Ragnar Blackmane in their army list.

As this campaign progresses keep note of every Space Wolf Character that survives the mission. Beginning from mission 2 each Character can add 1 characteristic point to 2 of the following characteristics types, WS, BS, S, I, A or Ld. You cannot select the same characteristic twice in the same mission, however these bonuses will stack from one mission to the next. Eg. In mission 2 you can add 1 point to WS and A, and then in mission 3 you could do the same again.
